Eight years after her debut in 2014, the year she was discovered by producer José Da Silva - who is also responsible for introducing Elida Sofia Cabral Almeida, 1993 geboren in Pedra Badejo auf der Kapverdischen Insel Santiago, wuchs unter einfachen Bedingungen und ohne Elektrizität in den Bergen ihrer Heimat- und der Nachbarinsel Maio auf. Mit siebzehn begann sie in einem Kirchenchor ihre Gesangskarriere. Durch kleinere und größere Konzerte in den lokalen Bars und Festivals wurde der Produzent José da Silva, der auch schon mit der Kapverdischen Legende Cesária Évora zusammengearbeitet hatte, auf sie aufmerksam. Mit „Ora Doci Ora Margos (Sweet Times Bitter Times)“ brachte sie 2014 ihr erstes Soloalbum heraus. Seitdem zählt sie zu einer der besten Stimmen ihres Landes weltweit. Mit traditionellen Grooves aus Batuku, Morna oder Funaná, begeisterte sie bereits 2017 das Publikum auf dem 29. Internationalen Africa Festival, als sie auf der Offenen Bühne auftrat.
